The Articles Of Faith in Islam | Belief In Allah

The Articles of faith in islam are seven, they are summed up in the following credal statement.

"Amantu billahi wa malã'ikatihi wa kutubihï wa Ruaulihi, walyaumil Ãkhiri wal Qadri Khayrihi wa sharrihi minAllahi, Ta'ala wal Ba'thi ba'dal-maut"

Translation

I solemnly believe in Allah, in His Angels, in His books, in His Prophets, in the Day of Judgement (the last Day), in the Destiny of good or bad and in the life after dearth".

The Articles of faith as contained in the above statement of faith and as we have seen before in the Prophetic Tradition and the verse of the Qur'an are seven, they are:

1. Belief in Allãh
2. Belief in His Angels
3. Belief in His Books
4. Belief in His Messengers
5. Belief in the Last Day or Day of Judgement
6. Belief in the destiny, good and bad.
7. Resurrection after death.

Belief In Allāh

Islam is strictly a monothistic religion. Allah is One and One alone. He has no partner or no agent. He is creator of every one - animate as well as inanimate things. Also among His Creatures are the night, the day, the sun, and the moon, all other known or unknown planets and heavenly bodies, the heavens and the earth and what ever live in them all are beyond.

The Prophets and angels are merely His servents and not his agents or partners. He has created Moses, Jesus, Muhammad and all. None of them is His son. Allah has no father, no son, no daughter,  no husband, and no wife.

The Qur'ãn says: "O mankind, worship your lord, who created you, and those before you, so thatyou may fear Him. It is He who has made the earth your convenient habitation and the heavens a well-built structure,  and causes water to fall down from sky, thereby producing fruit for your substanance: therefore do not set up peers for Allah when you have this knowledge" (Qur'an2 21, 22).

Ibn Khathir comments that "It is only the Creator of all these things who is worthy of worship". The word Allah is Unique and almost incapable of translation. The English word " God" does not convey the actual meaning of the word, Allah it is not common noun but is a proper noun par excellence.

We can not obtain plural of this word just as a "god" becomes "gods",  nor can we turn it into feminine like " godness". It is an Arabic word without any derivation. The word is such that it cannotes all the Attributes of Perfection and Beautyvin their infinitude and denotes none but One and Unique God.
